Traditional Coal Tar Creosote

Bartoline Creosote is a natural and highly effective wood preservative made from Coal Tar. It prevents timber from drying out and splitting, inhibits the growth of fungi and at the same time destroys insects, which might otherwise damage the wood. In July 2003, it became an offence for the general public to purchase and apply Coal Tar Creosote. However, the product is still available for use by professional users (Trades people)   Bartoline Creosote is available in the dark shade in 20 and 205 litre drums. 

Creosote Substitute

Traditional Creosote was withdrawn from sale to the general public in 2003. Due to continued demand, Bartoline was instrumental in the development of Creosote Substitute, a preparation comprising of petroleum distillates and synthetically manufactured active ingredients. The result is a highly effective wood preservative, approved by the Health and Safety Executive. Very similar to the traditional product, it even has the same smell associated with garden fence protection for many years.  

Bartoline Creosote Substitute applies exactly like Coal tar Creosote, and can be used by the general public as well as trade persons. 

Available in both Light and Dark Brown shades and in containers ranging from 4litres to 205 litres.
